Engaging Children in Global Citizenship for Over a Decade
Welcome to Global Minds! We love to bring Model UN to your 5th-8th grade children. For over 10 years, we’ve been helping students in the Potomac, Rockville, Bethesda area of Montgomery County, Maryland develop and hone valuable skills such as negotiation, public speaking, problem solving, and conflict resolution through the fun, collaborative, and educational experience of Model UN.
What is Model UN?
Model United Nations (Model UN or MUN) is an authentic simulation of the United Nations in which students act as delegates and engage in acts of diplomacy, negotiation, and decision-making at Model UN conferences. In traditional conference committees, students act as country delegates, preparing by researching their assigned country and their country’s position on international issues. Other types of committees include crisis committees where students respond to live updates of a crisis or fantasy committees where students represent characters from a world such as Harry Potter, the Hunger Games, Percy Jackson, or Star Wars. Conference committees are determined by the conference host.

and from a happy parent
The BMES crew had a great time today! I spoke to a couple of other parents from other schools and they were amazed that 5th graders were able to attend. I’ve often said I envy my kids’ childhood here and am so grateful to people like you who make it so incredible!

I just wanted you to know what an impact Model UN has had for [my child] this year. Thank you for affording the Model UN experience to BMES students and we are very excited with more next year at Cabin John!
